NHB
is one of the most vital and strategic national projects in
Egypt to upgrade the river Nile navigational activities whilst
also hosting a new hydropower plant to partially meet the
increasing demand for electric power in Egypt.
To
insure minimum ingress of water into the construction pit a
perimeter cut-off wall (sealing element) keyed into a layer of
cohesive soil shall be constructed.
In
addition to the temporary cut-off wall for the construction
pit, another 20,000 square meters of permanent cut-off wall
shall be constructed under the barrage structure.
