No other construction process has contributed to the design and
construction of deep excavations and basements as the
introduction of the diaphragm walling technique. Although the conventional grab
technique had demonstrated the enormous potential of diaphragm
walling technique, the increasing demand on integrity, quality
and deeper excavation depths highlighted the limitations of
this excavation technique.
The introduction and development of the automated trench
cutter equipment eliminated the handicaps and limitations of
the grab excavation technique for diaphragm walls, cut-off
walls and barrettes construction.
